Throughout the years, Sigma Delt has always been involved in a variety of philanthropic activities, both on campus and in the Upper Valley area. Every term, Sigma Delta selects a charity to support as a house based on the interests of our sisters.
This term our fundraising efforts will benefit Women for Women International, an organization which provides female victims of war with the opportunity to become rehabilitated and active participants in their communities. Women take part in a one-year program that provides them with the necessary resources to deal with the after-effects of war, such as food, water and medicine. The program also teaches about rights awareness, leadership skills and technical training, allowing women to become active citizens. By providing women with the resources and training necessary to their rehabilitation, Women for Women International aims to effect lasting social and political change in countries where women face discrimination.
Sigma Delt has always shown an enthusiastic interest in the house charity for the term. Last spring we raised more than $2,000 for the American Cancer Society as well as over $1,000 in aid of the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Society, which was raised through a “Think Pink” barbecue organized and hosted by all of the sororities at Dartmouth.
Sisters can also participate in other philanthropy events through the house; some regular events that we are involved in include the termly Blood Drives, Relay for Life, Special Olympics Summer Games and Students Fighting Hunger, among others.
Many sisters are involved in other philanthropy programs outside of Sigma Delt. Some of these organizations include:

Sigma Delt is always looking for new ways to get involved in phil, as well as to support our sisters in their own philanthropic ventures. Our philanthropy events are some of the most fun experiences we share as a sisterhood!
